Welcome to the Claims Center Administration Website for the American Medical Systems Settlement
The American Medical Systems Claims Center was created to assist Endo International PLC ("AMS") and plaintiff's firms across the country with a uniform system for distributing claimants mesh litigation settlements. This is a voluntary program to compensate eligible AMS claimants.
This multidistrict mesh litigation began in 2011. Honorable Judge Goodwin of the United States District Court Southern District of West Virginia was appointed as the federal judge in charge of the mesh multidistrict litigation. Over 100,000 lawsuits have been filed against seven manufacturers and American Medical Systems is one of the first defendants to settle with various firms across the country.
The Claims Center will be working with the claimant's attorneys and with the defendant AMS to process your claim in an ethical, timely, and efficient manner. There are various administrative tasks that must be completed in order to process a claimant's settlement and listed below are some of the entities that will be involved in the process.
Lien Resolution: The settlement process will include resolutions of liens by Shapiro Settlements who will work with Medicare, Medicaid, and Rawlings to negotiate and resolve outstanding liens associated with the claimants mesh injuries.
Governmental Benefits and Bankruptcy Resolution: Settlement Alliance will be providing their expertise as the trustee along with resolving bankruptcies, advice on governmental benefits which may be affected by the claimant's settlement, and distribution of the settlement checks to the claimants.
Special Master in Chancery: The Special Master in Chancery appointed by the Court and approved by the defendant is Dean Brinkley of Templeton & Brinkley. Special Master Dean Brinkley, shall work with the parties to establish appropriate criteria and audit procedures independent of the parties or their respective counsels to ensure each claimant is properly evaluated and to designate values of individual claims participating in the proposed settlement program.
